Battle format: 1 V 1!
**Audition will be held at 7pm sharp to choose the Top 16! **


Date: 2nd August (Sunday)
Venue: Studio Wu (SMU Branch)
Time: 8pm - 10pm

Doors open at 7.30pm!

Admission fee: $10 (same fee applies for both participants + audience)

Limited door gifts will be available!

*no worries i'll prepare more door gifts this time round, as the attendance for the previous lockdown were so big that we ran out of stock for door gifts pretty fast. but still, do try to be as early as u can for the event!

Battle Details:

BATTLE FORMAT

Audition Round – Dance Freestyle/Showcase

- Please state if you are joining the battle when paying admission fee at the door.
- Proceed to the Battle Registration Counter to register your entry for the battle.
- Participants will receive a participation number, to be issued at the registration counter.
- Participants will be called out in sequence according to their balloted numbers.
- Depending on the turnout, dancers might be called out individually or as a pair to perform their freestyle piece.
- Each dancer will be given 30 seconds to freestyle to the given music.
- Failure to respond to your turn when the emcee summons your number, your turn will be forfeited and no points will be awarded.
- Judges will then deliberate to choose the top scorers to proceed to the battle rounds.
- A Best 16 Battles for the next round will commence, comprising of the top 16 scorers from the auditions.

Battle Rounds – Best 16

- Dancers will be paired randomly in no order to do battle with each other.
- 1 round battles. Each dancer comes out once.
- Emcee will do a ‘bottle spin’ to decide which dancer goes first.
- The winner will be decided by a panel of 3 judges. No point system.
- In the event of a draw, an extra round will be given to both dancers till a winner is decided.


Battle Rounds – Best 8 & Best 4 (Semi Finals)

- Dancers will be paired randomly in no order to do battle with each other.
- 2 round battles. Each dancer comes out twice.
- 2 sets of music will be played. 1 for each round
- 50 seconds time limit each round per dancer.
- Emcee will do a ‘bottle spin’ to decide which dancer goes first.
- A panel of 3 judges will decide the winner. No point system.
- In the event of a draw, an extra round will be given to both dancers till a winner is decided.
- Winner of each battle will face of in the next final rounds.

Battle Rounds – Finals

- 3 round battles. Each dancer comes out thrice.
- In case of a lack of time, the battle will only be for 2 rounds.
- 3 sets of music will be played. 1 for each round
- 50 Seconds time limit each round per dancer.

3. The judges decisions are final
4. No substitution will be entertained unless instructed by judges

Representing LION CITY in Taiwan!

Well just a few weeks ago, along with 18 other members of Foreign Bodies (Fbodz), I headed to Taiwan for Max Party 6, organised by Aga of Swift Lockers as well as his Max Studio Family. It was a great trip and we felt proud to represent Singapore in a foreign land... For the few lockers among us, we got a great opportunity to see and learn a lot too!

There's a lot of knowledge that I would love to share with you guys yea, probably at the next LCL session which will come real soon. =)


Anyways, hope you guys gained some inspiration in one way or another through the videos above. I hope that more Singaporean lockers will get the opportunity to go out there and gain more exposure too, and let people know that our Lion City has got great lockers!

The increase in price is due to the inclusion of 7% GST. For the previous batch of orders I had forgotten to include GST for the quoted shirt cost, so I had actually absorbed the GST cost on behalf of all those who had ordered for the 1st batch. I wanna say a big big "THANK YOU" to everyone who made the event such a success! Thanks so much to everyone who turned up for the event, as well as those who had helped me out during the event. I'm glad to see so many lockers turn up for the battles, and I'm truly proud of how far the locking scene in Singapore had improved to be. =)

Once again, big credits to Studio Wu for providing the studio, Poppers Action Party for their dope guest performance, Chunky for being an entertaining emcee + providing the dope filming camera, K-Lock + Fong + Michael Sim for being great fellow judges, DJ Smoke for all the dope music through the night, Jeanie and Sabrina for being such reliable scorekeepers and admission counter girls, Su Ling aka Forest for helping out with Audition Registration, Robin and K-Lock (once again) for help with logistics, Lesner Chua + Arjuna + Evelyn + Fong for helping out with the studio preparations, Elisha for giving out door gifts, Popper Ben for advice with regards to the door gifts, and everyone else who had played a part in making the event possible!

Order details:

I will be printing the shirts based on the number of orders I get. Hence, if you are interested in ordering the shirt, please make your order by 13th March 2009! If you miss the order deadline, then you would have to wait till the next time the shirts are available for order... Most likely I will take orders once a month. =)

The prices may vary, depending on the number of orders I get. Simply put, the more orders I get, the cheaper the production cost will be as it's ordered in bulk. If there are not so many orders then it will cost more to print the shirts.

With regards to the quality of the shirt prints, if you guys have seen the T-shirts of Natasha Studio Crew or the official Fuyo Inter-school T-shirt, that's how good the shirt quality is. I'm printing our shirts from the same manufacturer.

Once the order deadline of 13th March has passed, I will consolidate all the orders and calculate the shirts' production costs. To be fair to everyone who would be waiting for their shirts, a deadline for payment will be imposed.

As mentioned during the last LCL session, there's 5 designs for the highly anticipated LCL T-shirt!!!

Yes that's right, LCL is going to have our own T-Shirt. Sales of the T-Shirt will be OPEN TO ALL; anyone will be able to get the T-Shirt. Have a look at the designs below, and vote for your favourite design by posting a comment on your choice! You may choose up to 2 designs as your choices:


1) Funky Red Top, with list of locking moves on the back! You'll never forget moves this way would you?
2) Declare your love for locking!
3) Show everyone that you're from LCL with this old school design!
4) So loud, it's hard not to notice the words and see that you are from LCL.
5) Clad yourself in this cool, black top and declare your love for locking too!



The top 2 designs voted will be considered for prints in February! I'll be trying to source for a good and cheap shirt printing manufacturer, and hopefully by February I will be able to give u guys a price quotation for the shirt costs. =)

Apologies to all lockers that this session took so long for me to organise. I had been trying to look for a permanent place for LCL for the past 1 month, but couldn't manage to get a place where we can settle down once and for all. Still, may this upcoming session be a funky and enjoyable one!



*Disclaimer: For those who have never been to any of our sessions before, this session is not a class or locking course, but merely a session for lockers to gather and dance in their own comfort. Of course, if you are looking to learn something from any of the lockers, feel free to come down! This session is a great opportunity for everyone to share the knowledge of locking and have fun dancing to the music together. So don't hesitate to come down if you're keen in locking. See you!

Locking Introductory Classes!

Ceekay will be conducting a 4-weeks Locking Introductory Open Class with Natasha Studio, starting on 4th Jan (Sunday)!

Time: 12pm - 1pm
Costs: $60 for 4 lessons
Dates: 4th Jan, 11th Jan, 18th Jan, 1st Feb
(no class on 25th Jan due to CNY)


The course will cover basic fundamentals of Locking, meant as a short introductory course for beginners as well as those who are keen to brush up on the basics. All levels of lockers are welcomed!
