Lockdown Battle Night 2009 - Details!



Date: 29th March 2009, Sunday
Venue: Studio Wu (SMU Branch)
Time: 6pm to 9pm
Cost: $15 per person (Everyone pays same, no additional fees for battle participants!)

Emcee/Host of the Night: Ian Poh aka Chunky! (or hunky as some may call him now)
Battle Judges: Michael Sim aka Prince Jack, K-Lock, Fong and CeeKay
Guest Performers: Poppers Action Party
Guest DJ: DJ Smoke from Foreign Bodies (Fbodz)

A very special commemorative door gift will also be given per person upon admission to the event! Limited pieces up for grabs, come early before stock runs out!

  • Doors will be opened from 6pm to 630pm.

  • Doors will be closed after 630pm as the event would have commenced by then

  • The Top 8 lockers will be chosen from the auditions

  • You are strongly encouraged to dress up for this event in a funky costume!

  • The purpose of this whole event is not to see who the best locker is, but to provide a funky vibe for everyone to enjoy and also see for ourselves how much LCL has grown over the past one year. Win or lose, it doesn't matter. Just get funky and enjoy yourself through the night!




BATTLE FORMAT

Audition Round – Dance Freestyle/Showcase

- Please state if you are joining the battle when paying admission fee at the door.
- Proceed to the Battle Registration Counter to register your entry for the battle.
- Participants will receive a participation number, to be issued at the registration counter.
- Participants will be called out in sequence according to their balloted numbers.
- Depending on the turnout, dancers might be called out individually or as a pair to perform their freestyle piece.
- Each dancer will be given 30 seconds to freestyle to the given music.
- Failure to respond to your turn when the emcee summons your number, your turn will be forfeited and no points will be awarded.
- Judges will then deliberate to choose the top scorers to proceed to the battle rounds.
- A Best 8 Battles for the next round will commence, comprising of the top 8 scorers from the auditions.

Battle Rounds – Best 8

- Dancers will be paired randomly in no order to do battle with each other.
- 2 round battles. Each dancer comes out twice.
- Emcee will do a ‘bottle spin’ to decide which dancer goes first.
- The winner will be decided by a panel of 4 judges. No point system.
- In the event of a draw, an extra round will be given to both dancers till a winner is decided.


Battle Rounds – Best 4 (Semi Finals)

- Dancers will be paired randomly in no order to do battle with each other.
- 2 round battles. Each dancer comes out twice.
- 2 sets of music will be played. 1 for each round
- 50 seconds time limit each round per dancer.
- Emcee will do a ‘bottle spin’ to decide which dancer goes first.
- A panel of 4 judges will decide the winner. No point system.
- In the event of a draw, an extra round will be given to both dancers till a winner is decided.
- Winner of each battle will face of in the next final rounds.

Battle Rounds – Finals

- 3 round battles. Each dancer comes out thrice.
- In case of a lack of time, the battle will only be for 2 rounds.
- 3 sets of music will be played. 1 for each round
- 50 Seconds time limit each round per dancer.
- Emcee will do a ‘bottle spin’ to decide which dancer goes first.
- A panel of 4 judges will decide the winner. No point system.
- In the event of a draw, an extra round will be given to both dancers till a winner is decided.


Judging Criteria

There are no specific judging score sheet criteria. However, judges will look out for the following:
- Rhythm
- Techniques
- Musicality
- Character/Projection
- Originality
- Flow


BATTLE RULES

1. No act of rowdiness throughout the event
2. Do not obstruct your opponent’s dancing space when it is not your turn.
3. The judges decisions are final
4. No substitution will be entertained unless instructed by judges
5. Have fun. Or else.
